Removal by excommunication?[]

It is frequently specified that an excommunicated individual will no longer be able to be resurrected. A severe church punishment is excommunication followed by execution, causing the recipient to face "True Death".

Does this mean that somehow the church/PAX/core have figured out a way to remove the cruciform other than the three listed in this article?

Obviously, an excommunicated individual will not be able to take part in the "sacrament of resurrection" which enables resurrection without deformities, but if they still bear the cruciform then they can still be resurrected to life, and still not face the true death. I found a section in TROE saying that excommunication leads to losing the cruciform. The mechanics of that process is not described, just that it's a "secret ritual of excommunication". I added that to the article. Thanks for pointing this out! MMantis (talk) 17:54, February 22, 2017 (UTC)

The key to the sacrament of resurrection[]

I am sure that I read somewhere in Endymion that the wafer of the sacrament is somehow the key to the successful resurrection. I think it was a short, seemingly innocuous sentence hidden in the middle of a paragraph about something else.

Does anyone have any reference or know of any further details on this? The Talent (talk) 05:57, February 22, 2017 (UTC)

I searched the entire text for "wafer" and there's nothing there relating that term to this topic. I think you're referring to the Sacrament of Ressurrection, which the Church claims to be means thereby the Cruciform doesn't cause retardation after ressurrection, but which truly is just TechnoCore technology being used by the Pax. That is already pointed out in the article. Thanks! MMantis (talk) 17:58, February 22, 2017 (UTC)
